Warner Music UK has announced that its artists will now be able to sell gig tickets from their own websites, thanks to its partnership with online ticketing firm CrowdSurge. The latter’s technology will be integrated into Warner’s own D2C platform, which it uses for artist websites. Pendulum was the guinea pig for the new feature, pre-selling tickets to its May 2010 tour through its own website at the start of this month. Biffy Clyro has also been using the feature – again for a presale – hinting that selling tickets before general release dates will be the prime use for the technology.
