It’s on! We confess to being decidedly cynical about the prospects of the Facebook-led campaign to send Rage Against The Machine to number one in the UK this Christmas to scupper X Factor winner Joe McElderry. But based on digital sales from Sunday and Monday, RATM were ahead yesterday according to the Official Charts Company. However, McElderry’s CD single comes out today, which is likely to be a big sales boost. Even so, the initial lead for his sweary rival may give more momentum to the Facebook troops. As numerous commentators have pointed out, Sony Music Entertainment is the real winner in this battle – it handles both songs. Source: Music Ally
