US vice president Joe Biden is catching some flak today, following a summit on piracy that was attended purely by politicians and entertainment industry executives. Biden described illegal downloading as “flat unadulterated theft”, and told attendees that “Intellectual piracy is costing this country and all of you billions of dollars and thousands of jobs, and unless we better coordinate with all the resources of the federal government to deal with this problem, it’s likely to only get worse.” However, the event has been slammed by consumer group Public Knowledge. “No consumer or public-interest groups, technology companies, technology associations or Internet service providers are on the guest list.” Source: Main Justice
