And you thought 2009 was… Informa has predicted that sales of smartphones grew by more than 33.5% this year, and suggests this growth will reach 36% in 2010. It thinks smartphones will account for 27% of the number of handsets that ship next year, but 64% of market profits. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley has been singing its praises for the iPhone again, estimating that while it only accounts for 17% of global smartphones, iPhone users are doing 65% of the world’s mobile internet surfing. “Apple is in the pole position in the race to dominate mobile Internet computing,” says its report.
