A coalition of Spanish creative industry bodies has sent an open letter to Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, calling for the government to stick to its guns with its planned anti-piracy legislation. The bill includes a clause to create an independent IP commission that would be able to order the closure of sites offering links to copyright-infringing content. However, it’s sparked fierce protests from consumer rights groups, which in turn led Zapatero to say “we will not close any web [site] or blog”. Now, the letter from the Coalition of Creators and Content Industries is asking him not to go back on his promises. Source: Billboard
