Shazam boss Andrew Fisher says the uptake of its premium Shazam Encore iPhone app has exceeded the company’s expectations, as it moves to a freemium model. The company now has more than 50 million users. “We’ve been achieving 500,000 new users every week since January,” says Fisher. And the company is even mulling a potential IPO if its growth rate continues. “Before now, I’d have said it’s not appropriate for a company the size of Shazam. But for us now, given the size we’re at and the opportunity we see in front of us, once you exceed 100 million users, you are significant.” Source: MocoNews
