More data on the explosion in mobile apps was supplied this Christmas by a study from eMarketer, showing that both iPhone and Android are higher than average in terms of overall mobile media usage – 94% and 92% compared to 80% for other smartphone users, and 26% for regular mobiles. Users of both platforms also spend a lot of time using apps. Meanwhile, analytics firm Flurry says there was a huge uplift in iPod touch downloads from Apple’s App Store on Christmas Day – jumping by 900% compared to the average of previous Fridays in December, as people unwrapped their presents and logged on. December was also a record-breaking month for the App Store, with downloads up more than 50% on the previous record month, November. Source: Mashable Source: Mobile Entertainment
