RealNetworks has bought cloud-syncing firm Varia Mobile for an undisclosed amount. According to MocoNews, the company’s technology “provides immediate publishing, integration and deployment of Web 2.0 desktop services directly to mobile devices” – including the ability to wirelessly sync music on a mobile device with a media service or storefront, without having to connect it to a PC first. No news on what this means for RealNetworks’ mobile music and Rhapsody services yet, but you can assume they’ll be getting a lot more cloud-friendly in the coming months. Source: MocoNews
