Virtual goods company AdNectar has announced that two billion virtual items have now been served from its platform, which is used by brands including Gillette, Snapple, Nestle and Malibu. The company says more than one million branded Malibu Rum virtual drinks were sent in two weeks, with more than a million virtual cookies sent as part of a separate campaign for Nestle. AdNectar says both brands benefitted in metrics like `purchase intent’ and `brand favorability’. 2010 could see more music involvement with these kinds of companies, building on previous efforts to sell virtual items based on artists on Facebook.
