Music firm Melodeo has launched a new iPhone app called Effin Genius, which for $1.99 analyses the music stored on a user’s iPhone or iPod touch, and then creates new playlists of streaming music that they might like. It’s using Melodeo’s own recommendation engine. However, according to Billboard, Melodeo could be the next digital music firm to be snapped up by a larger entity – it suggests that the company is in talks with at least two companies that lost out to Apple in the bidding war for Lala last year.
