The National Music Publishers Association says it’s successfully settled its copyright infringement suit against the operators of unlicensed music lyrics site LyricWiki. The case was brought against founder Sean Colombo and his company Motive Force, who according to the NMPA are now permanently banned from using unlicensed song lyrics in websites or apps. However, as the settlement points out, LyricWiki is now properly licensed – it was recently acquired by rival firm Wikia, which has an agreement with Gracenote to cover lyrics.
