Mobile content firm Thumbplay is launching a new service called Thumbplay Music in beta this week, offering streaming music for PC and smartphone users. The latter will be just BlackBerry handsets initially, although iPhone and Android apps will follow in the near future. The apps will be free, but users will only get a three-day free trial before having to sign up to a $9.99-a-month subscription. It’ll go head to head with Play.me, a similar service launched earlier this week by Dada Entertainment.
