Alan Ellis, former admin of torrent site OiNK, has gone on trial in the UK, with jurors warned not to do any “private research on the internet” during the case. The prosecution claimed that OiNK had been responsible for 21 million downloads, while Ellis had gathered nearly $300,000 in PayPal donations from members of the site. “Every penny was going to Mr Ellis,” said prosecutor Peter Makepeace. “He hadn’t sung a note, he hadn’t played an instrument, he hadn’t produced anything. The money was not going to the people it rightly belonged to, it was going to Mr Ellis.” Source: TorrentFreak
