Omnifone has signed a new alliance with Gracenote, matching the latter’s music ID technology with its own set of MusicStation APIs. The company says it’s now powering cloud-based music services in 20 countries, and that this will expand to 30 in 2010. “With this announcement we believe a much wider range of device manufacturers will be able to differentiate their services by providing embedded state-of-the-art music experiences into their devices, and on a global basis,” says CEO Rob Lewis. The deal continues Omnifone’s evolution from a mobile music service provider into a more cross-platform company, targeting other devices and device-makers. Source: Mobile Entertainment
