There are numerous startups focusing on iPhone app discovery, plugging the gaps in Apple’s App Store. The latest is called Chomp, and it’s a free iPhone app that offers real-time reviews from other users, recommendations of apps users might like based on what they’ve reviewed in the past, and social features to connect with Facebook friends who are also using the app. Reviews are simply a case of choosing a heart (good) or a broken heart (bad) and typing 60 words of text, while TechCrunch reckons the built-in recommendation system “beats the pants off” Apple’s own Genius tech.
