Dimensional Associates, the private equity firm that owns eMusic, has raised its bid to take full control of digital distributor The Orchard. It originally offered $1.68 a share, then raised it to $1.84. Now it’s offering $2 a share, with The Orchard’s special committee currently evaluating the offer. Dimensional already owns a majority stake in The Orchard, but is keen to take full control – possibly in order to faciliate some sort of merger with eMusic. Although given the speculation around Dimensional wanting to sell eMusic, that may be blue pie-in-the-sky thinking. Source: PaidContent
