Recently unseated Napster CEO Chris Gorog has been talking to Billboard about his departure from the company, describing the decision as “very cooperative and amiable”, but also describing Napster’s acquisition by US retailer Best Buy last year as “like bringing a dinghy up to dock next to an aircraft carrier”. He also describes Best Buy’s approach to digital as “schizophrenic” – “I think the schizophrenia comes from how one makes sense out of aggressively selling the products of direct competitors while trying to gain market share with your own business. That’s a very challenging tightrope act that Best Buy needs to execute well on.”
