With Apple having confirmed a new product launch next Wednesday – widely anticipated to be its long-rumoured tablet device – it seems music won’t be a big part of the event. All Things Digital reports that Apple has only recently begun briefing labels about the tablet “as a courtesy”, suggesting that video and e-magazines and newspapers will be more of its focus. However, TechCrunch thinks the event will also see the introduction of the iPhone 4.0 software, which may include the ability to run apps in the background for the first time – a boon to music apps like Spotify and Pandora.
