As legislation to clamp down on illegal file-sharing ramps up around the world, are people deciding to do it at work instead? Online security firm ScanSafe claims that illegal MP3 and software download attempts are up 55% on corporate networks in the last three months. “Employees mistakenly assume they can use the Internet at work in exactly the same way as they use it at home and this is potentially one of the reasons for this steady increase in illegal download attempts over recent months,” says its director of product management Spencer Parker.
