If you think graduated response schemes are controversial in Europe, wait till the debate hots up in the US. This week, a panel session at the US State of the Net conference discussed the issue, with participants from the IFPI, Center for Democracy & Technology, the Computer and Communications Industry Association, and a UK MP – but NOT any US bodies like the RIAA or MPAA. Blog Public Knowledge suggests that the strident tone of the debate went down badly: “The three strikes supporters on the panel were unabashed about their stances, many of which made people in this US audience cringe”.
