Official body Digital Radio UK has hailed the fact that digital’s share of radio listening hours in the UK rose 14% year-on-year to 20.9% in the fourth quarter of last year. However, that share actually fell quarter-on-quarter from the 21.1% it took in Q3. The UK government says that digital’s share of listening hours has to reach 50% by 2013 to trigger a switch-off of the existing analogue network in 2015. There are now 17.1 million Brits living in households with at least one digital DAB radio – up from 15.1 million a year ago.
