Tap Studio Pro, a competitor to Tap Tap Revenge, has laucnhed with very similar features, although it lets users play their own songs – those stored on their iPhone or iPod touch – incorporating their artwork into the level backgrounds. Players can also upload their scores to see how they compare against others playing the same songs. Its developer Drop D Studios stresses that the actual songs are not stored on its servers – a touchy subject among rightsholders, who won’t be receiving any licensing fees from the game.
