We’ve seen collections of music released as iPhone apps before – notably by Melodeo – but they’ve usually been ‘thin client’ apps that stream all the tunes. However, IceMobile is taking a different tack with its Trance 100: Best of 2009 compilation. It’s being sold as an app for $7.99, but at 427MB for the download, the music is clearly embedded in the application rather than streamed. Which is interesting, but does make us wonder why people would buy this rather than the album itself, which could then be played on other devices. Source: AppShopper
