On the face of it, Tap Studio Pro is a pretty blatant rip-off of iPhone game Tap Tap Revenge. Coloured dots fall down the screen to be tapped in time to music, with bonuses for hitting lots of them in a row. It even looks like Tap Tap Revenge. However, the key difference is that it lets users play their own songs – those stored on their iPhone or iPod touch – incorporating their artwork into the level backgrounds. Players can also upload their scores to see how they compare against others playing the same songs. Its developer Drop D Studios stresses that the actual songs are not stored on its servers – a touchy subject among rightsholders, who won’t be receiving any licensing fees from the game.
