MTV Games and Harmonix has plans to bring legendary guitar icon Jimi Hendrix to their famous Rock Band videogame. “While we have not made any official announcements regarding Jimi Hendrix and Rock Band”, MTV told Billboard in a statement, “we are excited to say that we are in discussions to bring his music to our platform.” It’s not clear whether tracks from Hendrix would simply be downloadable add-ons or whether there might be an entire Rock Band edition bearing his name (as with the Beatles Rock Band or the forthcoming Green Day Rock Band.) But given that Sony Music has struck a licensing deal for Hendrix’s master recordings and has promised to make his music available “through every type of media” we’d expect something pretty spectacular for his entry into gaming.
