CNet is claiming that Google has been in talks with cloud music and video provider Catch Media – and is speculating that Google may be interested in buying the company. CNet describes b2b outfit Catch as “to digital media what Plus, Cirrus and ATM networks are to the banking industry”, enabling users to access music from any supplier or device just as easily as taking money from a cash machine. The article argues that Google may want to play catch-up with Apple, which recently bought music locker service Lala, suggesting “Catch is one way Google could equip Android cellphone owners with a means to access their iTunes music libraries.”
