Well, the facts are that Apple is suing smartphone maker HTC for infringing 20 of its iPhone patents, but it’s clear that the lawsuit is much more about Google and its Android OS. The lawsuit specifically mentions several HTC Android handsets, including the Nexus One, myTouch 3G and Hero. “Some of these patents are from 15 years ago and cover OS-level behavior, so it’s hard to see how they can relate only to HTC’s implementation of Android and not Google’s OS as a whole,” points out Engadget, while TechCrunch claims that “By going after the biggest Android manufacturer, Apple is putting all Android cell phone makers — and by extension Google — on notice.” Apple is already being sued by Nokia – and counter-suing in return – over mobile patents. Meanwhile, Google has issued its own statement on the HTC lawsuit: “We are not a party to this lawsuit. However, we stand behind our Android operating system and the partners who have helped us to develop it.” Source: Engadget Source: Mobile Entertainment
