YouTube has announced that it’s launching adverts for the first time on its home, search and browse pages of its US and Japanese mobile sites. “This is a great way for advertisers to reach YouTube viewers across multiple platforms. In fact, at launch YouTube will immediately provide one of the largest audiences for a mobile ad campaign anywhere on the mobile web,” blogs the company, with Sony and Kia already signed up for campaigns. However, the fact that the ads are on home, search and browse pages presumably means the revenues will be going to YouTube alone – the ads aren’t associated to specific videos, and thus shared with content owners.
