US print publisher Hearst has launched 70 iPhone apps under its new ‘LMK’ brand, which stands for Let Me Know. Each app focuses on a specific news topic or celebrity, including music artists like Beyonce, Avril Lavigne, 50 Cent, Britney Spears, Coldplay and Lady Gaga. The apps aggregate news and gossip from a range of online sources, but they’re not free – Hearst is charging $1.99 for most of them. “Unlike the web, we’ve always trained people that everything on the mobile device costs money,” says EVP George Kliavkoff. Except licensing rights for those celebrities, presumably. Source: MocoNews
