Okay, some context. That Ben-Folds-on-Chatroulette video that we reported on yesterday was actually a response by the singer to a previous video by a YouTube user called Merton, who recorded his own piano-fuelled improvisations on Chatroulette and had the results watched millions of times on YouTube. Now, though, his video has been removed from the site on the grounds of a “terms of use violation”. Not copyright – he was improvising his own music – but according to Mashable, the problem may have been that the people he was Chatrouletting with didn’t know they’d be part of a viral video. One to ponder for any bands considering using the service promotionally.
