New US music startup Immitter is hoping to take on Pandora with its music discovery service. The idea is similar: users listen to music, and have songs recommended to them based on specific metrics around the songs. However, the idea is that artists will pay to upload their songs to the service. The problem could be that Immitter needs to build scale to make it worth their while paying, yet without a big base of music, it might struggle to build scale. Hypebot also points out that the barriers for getting unsigned music onto Pandora itself are already pretty low.
