Island Records has launched a nifty desktop app based on chart-topping artist Owl City, which takes the form of an animated owl. The app turns the tweets of Owl City frontman Adam into voice messages, but can also be used to deliver marketing messages and audio clips. Meanwhile, fans can interact with the owl by uploading their own messages. Island’s Glenn Cooper says it has been downloaded 15,000 times so far, with plans for a paid version on the way. That said, there’s clearly room for growth, judging by Owl City’s 228,000 followers on Twitter, and his claimed 1.4 million global fanbase. Source: SandboxFM
