Mobile handset maker INQ has announced plans to sponsor a monthly three-hour radio show on Spotify called Radio INQ, which will feature two DJs playing songs suggested by INQ’s customers and social network fans. Yep, that’s right: DJs on Spotify. The deal initially covers three months, kicking off around 16 April. “Radio INQ gives us a chance to interact directly with our users and our fans and people who are just interested in music,” says INQ marketing director Jeff Taylor. “We like that ability to go right to the source rather than the distance that sometimes advertising incurs.” It’s the latest example of advertising as content on Spotify, following its recent campaigns for Amy MacDonald and Jimi Hendrix.
