Analytics firm BigChampagne is now well established in the music industry: it was one of the first companies to say that file-sharing could be a valuable source of data, rather than just a villain. Now the TV industry has its equivalent: Torrent Tracker Reports, a new service from US firm Jumpwire Media. “Most television distribution companies see piracy as a loss instead of a gain, but we feel that piracy is a market signal that shows us where the demand is and where the opportunities are,” says president Gavin McGarry.
