The latest DIY iPhone app platform is called Scribble:Apps, and it’s the work of digital media agency Scribble. For £499, musicians and bands can create their own app, streaming music, offering videos and images, aggregating their social media feeds, and selling gig tickets. The app supports push notifications, and there’s a premium option called VIP Area which lets bands deliver news announcements, secret gig locations, backstage footage and competitions to paying users. Scribble says it takes a week to get apps onto the App Store, and it’s working on an Android version. The costs can mount up though: £499 gets the basic package, then an extra £199 for push alerts, £199 for the VIP area, and £49 a month for server hosting.
