As part of its latest quarterly financials, Microsoft has revealed that it’s now sold more than 40 million Xbox 360 consoles since its debut in late 2005. That said, sales were down 12% year-on-year in Q1, so the console’s momentum is slipping a bit as it ages. However, from a music point of view, those 40 million people are an attractive install base for music services – Last.fm is already available through the console – as well as a potential distribution platform for digital music.
