US performance rights body SoundExchange has contributed a guest post for our SandboxFM digital marketing blog, explaining the ten most common reasons why artists don’t register with the body to receive their royalties. They include fears that there are strings attached, the mistaken belief that other collecting societies are already picking up this money for them, and plain disorganisation. SoundExchange says it distributed nearly $52 million to artists and rightsholders in the first three months of this year, but it continues its efforts to sign up more artists to receive their digital loot.
