YouTube has quietly opened its video rental store, offering a range of TV shows and movies. They can be rented for 48 hours, with users paying between $0.99 and $3.99 a pop. ReadWriteWeb says the store is currently focusing on indie flicks, as well as Bollywood, Manga and documentary films. It’s clearly an opportunity for people with long-form music videos – gigs or tourfilms for example. It’s also interesting in terms of the bigger picture of YouTube getting into paid content.
