Digital distributor IODA has announced what it says is the first ‘worldwide digital exclusive on Amazon MP3’ for a new album by Kris Kristofferson. Well, we say new: it’s a collection of his demos from 1968-1972, which is being released by indie label Light In The Attic Records. Amazon has bagged the exclusive rights to sell the album digitally between 27 April and 11 May, as well as the US exclusive on the physical CD version for the same period. NPR Music has been signed on to stream the album from 26 April on its site too. It’s noticeable that it’s an independent doing this exclusive deal with Amazon rather than a bigger label: Apple has been reportedly keen to dissuade labels from working too closely with Amazon in recent months.
