Sony Music Entertainment has struck an interesting deal with US startup Library Ideas, which will make hundreds of thousands of its track available to US public library users. Registered card holders of participating libraries will be able to download “a select number” of MP3 tracks every month, with the libraries footing the bill. Ten public libraries have so far signed up with Library Ideas to offer the service. What’s in it for them? “A library is a focal point of the community that requires many tools to excite people about library resources. More than anything, that is the reason for this service,” explains Library Ideas co-founder Brian Downing. Source: Press Release
