A survey of 7,000 Australians has found that two thirds of people who’ve downloaded music, films or TV shows illegally in the last year would pay for them if there was a more convenient legal service. The survey suggested a hypothetical example of a service that would offer this content without ads or DRM, and found that people were willing to pay $1 for a TV show, $2 for a movie and $0.50 for a music track – that’s Australian dollars, so in US terms it’s $0.88, $1.77 and $0.44 respectively.
