Analyst firm ABI Research reckons that more than 2.4 billion mobile apps were downloaded last year, and that this will rise to nearly seven billion in 2013. However, the company thinks that will be a peak, after which downloads will gradually decline as more companies switch to ‘web apps’ – mobile websites rather than downloadable apps.
