US startup NearVerse has announced that more than 30 bands are using its LoKast social location app to distribute music to their fans at gigs. Meanwhile, more than 125,000 iPhone owners have downloaded the app since it launched two months ago. Those bands include Third Eye Blind, Echo & The Bunnymen and Infected Mushroom. The app launched during the SXSW Festival in March, and lets people share music and other content with other users within 300 feet, while tying in a portal for bands to distribute songs to fans.
