Google’s Android was the second largest smartphone OS in the US in the first quarter of 2010. It claims Android took a 28% share of new smartphone sales there, behind BlackBerry’s 36%, but ahead of iPhone’s 21%. The latter’s market share doesn’t include sales of iPod touch. NPD says that Apple is facing stiffer competition from its smartphone rivals.
