Nokia has announced a new corporate restructure, with the company now divided into three divisions. The key one from the music industry’s perspective is Mobile Solutions, led by Anssi Vanjoki. It will encompass Nokia’s services, including Comes With Music and the Ovi Music Store, but also its smartphone hardware business. The other two divisions are Mobile Phones – which will focus on cheaper handsets and services for emerging markets – and Markets, which will handle sales, marketing and supply chain sourcing. “Nokia’s new organizational structure is designed to speed up execution and accelerate innovation, both short-term and longer-term,” says CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, who remains in place despite recent predictions of a change at the top.
