Developing or commissioning an iPad app for your music service or band? You might want to read a report issued by usability expert Jakob Nielsen, who’s been digging into the launch wave of iPad apps. He’s not impressed. “For the last 15 years of Web usability research, the main problems have been that users don’t know where to go or which option to choose,” he writes. “With iPad UIs, we’re back to this square one.” Nielsen highlights inconsistent interaction design as one of the key problems – apps don’t behave in the same way – but also suggests positive ways for developers to make their iPad apps more usable.
