Where there’s money – and there most certainly is money in the smartphones and apps sectors right now – there’ll be lawyers. HTC has announced that it is suing Apple for violating five of its patents, in response to an earlier lawsuit from Apple against HTC concerning 20 of ITS patents. “We are taking this action against Apple to protect our intellectual property, our industry partners, and most importantly our customers that use HTC phones,” says HTC’s North America VP Jason Mackenzie. HTC is asking the International Trade Commission to halt sales of the iPhone, iPod and iPad in the US. Meanwhile, Nokia is also locked in patent litigation with Apple. Source: TechCrunch
