US firm AppVee has conducted a survey of 96 iPhone developers, grabbing detailed sales data from their applications to get a snapshot of the App Store market. Some stats: the average app sold 101,024 downloads in 261 days, at an average of 387 copies a day. One app cost $49.99, which skewed the average price to $5.49, although AppVee says the most popular price point was $0.99. The average development cost was $6,453. Which sounds pretty good, but AppVee points out that when you remove the top 10% of apps sales-wise, the average sales are 11,625 total downloads at 44 a day, with 23% of apps selling less than 1,000 downloads over their lifetime. The full data is worth a look. Source: TechCrunch
