The company behind recent music biz conference Music 4.5 have announced a follow-up licensing workshop, to be held at PRS for Music’s London HQ on 29 June. It’s being held together with PRS and CELAS, and will gather startups to hear more about the thorny process of getting licensing deals across Europe. Case studies will include we7, Apple, Spotify, Comes With Music and Amazon, with at least one label coming along to give their perspective. During his Great Escape keynote last week, UMGI’s Francis Keeling cited publishers as one of the key barriers remaining to faster licensing for startups. This workshop appears to show PRS and CELAS’ determination to present a friendlier face to startups.
