Well, this is inevitable we guess. A company is trying to get users to pay for its service, so they don’t have to pay for Spotify. The SpotifAds service will be a downloadable PC application that lets people hit CTRL+Shift+A whenever an ad kicks in on Spotify to instantly turn the sound down until it finishes. No news on how much it costs, but a poll on its site suggests some possibles: £12 per year, £9 per six months, a one-off payment of £7.50, £10 or £15 with varying degrees of volume reduction. Here’s a suggestion for anyone who wants to do this for free: stretch out your hand and turn the volume down, then up again. Genius.
